Whether it is the various schools of Tibetan Buddhism or the people of Tibet, all hold these three Bodhisattvas in the highest regard. They are the Four-Armed Avalokiteśvara (in the center), representing Compassion; Mañjuśrī Bodhisattva (on the lower left), representing Wisdom; and Vajrapāṇi Bodhisattva (on the lower right), representing Fearless Strength and Power. They protect the sentient beings of the snowy land and are revered as the "Three Lords of the Guiding Protectors of the Kriya Tantra Class" (密宗事部三怙主).
(The term "Guiding Protector" (怙主) means "Protective Deity.")
Guiding Protector (怙主)
"Guiding Protector" (怙主), or yik-go-pa (依怙主), is rendered in Tibetan as Gönpo, Gönbu, Gönbwa, or Gönpu (贡保、贡布、贡波、刚布), and means "Protective Deity" or "Protector God."
In Tibetan Buddhism, it is a title used for Protective Deities or Dharma Protectors (Dharmapala). These deities offer protection and assistance to practitioners, helping to reduce the difficulties they face and aid in their spiritual practice.
