Guanyin Riding on a Dragon is one of the Thirty-Three Manifestations of Guanyin Bodhisattva. She rides a dragon amidst the clouds, soaring above the waves of the South Sea, and is also known as Dragon-Headed Guanyin (龙头观音).

Guanyin's act of riding on the dragon in the clouds symbolizes the Bodhisattva's divine power and majesty. The sea is the domain of the Dragon King; the dragon has the ability to draw water from the sea to the heavens and bring forth abundant, timely rain upon the human world. Guanyin standing upon the dragon's head signifies her intention to ensure favorable weather and a peaceful world for all under heaven (天下太平).
